  • [ MCO 3.0 ] Eateries are Allowed to Operate Until 10pm

CYBERJAYA, 28 June 2021 – Under newly-revised SOP, the Malaysian government has allowed eateries to operate until 10pm. This is done after close consultation with stakeholders and considering the plight of the rakyat to have more time to buy food.

The move is timely due to several factors. Among them is to reduce strain on peak demand on the restaurants, especially during 6pm-8pm dinner time. Food operators around Cyberjaya has been complaining that they have problems in catering to the sharp increase in demand during 6pm-8pm order period.

We sincerely hope that the move will help to alleviate burden of food sellers as many of them are already suffering by the implementation of MCO. Besides, longer operating hours also allows people to have more time to purchase their food and reduce potential overcrowding at the location.

  • AstraZeneca Booking System: How Can It Be Better

CYBERJAYA, 26 May 2021: Many Malaysians voiced their frustrations online on AstraZeneca Vaccine system booking on JKJAV’s website, https://www.vaksincovid.gov.my. Complaints about unresponsive site and green-but-full booking slots indicating the company is not competent to handle huge amount of bookings at once.

Since there have been multiple times of booking sessions before, enormous traffic amount is not uncommon. As such, JKJAV is obligated to seek a feasible solution that can handle high traffic effectively.

Lucky Draw System for JKJAV’s AstraZeneca Booking System

As limited places are available at the healthcare facilities, more people are scrambling to vaccinate themselves. By using first-come-first-serve system, the inability to cater for large number of applicants at once has left them fuming. Or we can implement the lucky draw system.

Day 1 (24-hour period): Allow everyone to register. Don’t use first-come-first serve if your system is not able to handle the crowd. Give everyone opportunity. That way, no one has to rush at a specific period of time in order to “be early”. They can choose their preferred slot (Choice A, B and C).

Day 2: Participants can login again to determine whether they have succeeded or not. They will be notified on which slot they have obtained. They are given 24 hours to confirm their appointment.

Day 3: Re-registration for those who have registered in Day 1 only. Quota will be taken from those who have failed to confirm their appointment on Day 2.

    Benefits

The system has the capability to take in as many registration as possible on Day 1. Filling the empty slots won’t be difficult because of limited number of applicants only on Day 2 and Day 3.

Ability to edit or cancel appointments in an easy way (rather than having to call, email or visit any location assigned by JKJAV for the purpose of appointment rescheduling).

  • Hospital Cyberjaya for COVID-19 Treatment

CYBERJAYA, 23 May 2021: Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH/KKM) is looking at the possibility of using Hospital Cyberjaya as the treatment centre for COVID-19 patients. This is because of the sharp increase in the number of patients seeking treatment for COVID-19. Malaysiakini has reported that the ministry is considering to utilise the hospital together with Hospital Pakar Kanak-kanak Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HPKK UKM) as COVID-19 treatment centre.

    Hospital Cyberjaya for COVID-19 Patients

As of today, Hospital Cyberjaya is not opened to the public yet. The hospital looks almost complete from the outside. What we need desperately now is the equipment and supplies as well as adequate manpower to operate the hospital.

By specialising in COVID-19 treatment, the hospital is able to allocate the resources in a more efficient way. The building has better construction standards. Overall, the building is more ready to handle patients and requires less maintenance and repair.

We hope that the government is able to utilise its existing resources more effectively and able to contain the pandemic within time. The hospital should be able to cater the need to treat the residents of Cyberjaya and its surrounding areas.

  • Cyberjaya Hospital Remained Unopened

    Cyberjaya Hospital Remained Unopened

CYBERJAYA, 18 May 2021: Cyberjaya Hospital will be vacant for a foreseeable future. The unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic has put too much strain on the Malaysian healthcare system and new hospitals are currently not able to be opened. This includes Cyberjaya Hospital, which will remain unopened for now.

    Cyberjaya Hospital Remained Unopened, Why?

Sources from other facility owned by Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) pointed out that the hospital previously was not able to be opened in time due to lack of manpower. The planned workforce for the hospital were currently being placed at existing facilities to assist KKM in combating the pandemic.

With the daily new COVID-19 case number soaring above 4,000 daily, Malaysia is dealing with increasingly challenging environment. Its own healthcare workforce is strained and recently we are seeing the tools and equipments are facing the same challenge as well. The Star today reported that more beds will be put for MAEPS PKRC facility as well as ICU.

Previously, The Malay Mail reported that equipments from Cyberjaya Hospital will be distributed to four different hospitals around Klang Valley to alleviate their burden in treating patients with COVID-19. The Health Minister stated that after a working visit to Cyberjaya Hospital on 11 May 2021.

    Planning of Public Facilities

With allocation of manpower and equipments are more directed to existing facilities, it is unsure of what the authorities are planning to do with Cyberjaya Hospital and Cyberjaya residents. As the Cyberjaya Hospital remained unopened and the population is growing, the residents are left with no choice but to go to other healthcare facilities. Apart from that, some of the residents are also raising concern on the schoolgoing children population at Cyberjaya. This adds more pressure to the authorities in improving the quality of government service to the public.
