Compared to many other countries in the world, USA can be considered somewhat left behind in terms of employee benefits. For decades, government-mandated benefits such as maternity is way behind compared to many other developed countries. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic hits the world, a lot of them have explored the option of remote working, and as the hazard and fear recedes, they are not turning back.

Among the key points include the office areas in Silicon Valley, California have only recovered a third of their pre-pandemic occupants, compared to around half in other major cities such as New York City and Washington, DC.

Amazon is one of the companies asking its employees to come back to work in its offices. However, the employees disagreed vehemently to the point of holding protests at Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle.
