Malaysia to deploy tsunami buoy in Sulawesi Sea
Monday, March 1st, 2010PENANG, March 1 – The government will deploy another tsunami buoy soon, this time in the Sulawesi Sea.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili said the buoy, costing RM1 million, would be deployed in waters off Semporna and Sipadan in Sabah to receive tsunami warning signals from the Pacific Ocean.
“Installation of the buoy is expected to be completed in three months,” he told reporters after opening a new office building for the Penang Chemistry Department here today.
